Fluency Booster

What is Fluency Booster?
Fluency Booster is our brand new adaptive maths fluency practice tool, and will be replacing Maths Training. It's designed to help teachers consolidate core number skills and build maths fluency with ongoing, varied practice. We recommend using it for 30 minutes a week.

Once Fluency Booster has been released on your teacher dashboard, you'll see a new Fluency section where you can view reports on fluency skills. The Set Work section remains unchanged. You will still be able to set work aligned with your curriculum, and reports will cover both Fluency Booster and Set Work activities.

Key Features

• Coverage: Fluency Booster will focus on Years 1-6/1st & 2nd Levels/Grades K-5.
  
  Fluency Booster will not cover content from KS3/Third and Fourth Level/Grades 6-8 (though teachers will still be able to set work on KS3/Third and Fourth Level/Grades 6-8 skills).
  
  This also means that it will no longer be possible for students to have a current level/proficiency equating to these higher curriculum levels.
  
  Fluency Booster will offer a variety of more complex skills, making it suitable for KS3/Third and Fourth Level/Grades 6-8 teachers aiming for their students to consolidate core number skills.
  
  Fluency Booster will cover core number skills including Number & Place Value, Counting and Number Patterns, Number Bonds and Arithmetic. It will not cover Geometry, Measurement, and Statistics.
• Fluency Dashboard: New section reporting on fluency skills progress.
• Adaptivity: Faster and more responsive, with no changes to set work or diagnostics.
• No Change to Spelling & Grammar.

Disruptions During Release

• When the Fluency Booster is released, previous hard skills in the Intervention Report will be erased.
• Skills in the Training Focus Report will be reset.
• Students should experience no disruption to their usual experience.
  
  

What Will Change?

For pupils:

• Students will see 'Fluency Booster' instead of ‘Maths Training’ in their tasks.
• Students will now focus on mastering up to 5 skills at once.
• It will be possible to master skills more quickly.
• Students will not need to redo the maths diagnostic.

For teachers:

• Teachers will see a new Fluency section on their dashboard. This section is designed to provide insights into what students are working on or struggling with in Fluency Booster.
• The Training Focus Report (renamed Fluency Focus), Intervention Report and multiplication tables heatmap will be moved from the Reports section to the Fluency section.
• The Reports section includes work from both Set Work and Fluency Booster.
• The Set Work section will not change.

For parents:

• The Reports section reports will report on work in both Set Work and Fluency Booster.
• The Set Work section will not change.
